Firmware Updates, Resetting, and Rebooting

If you are having issues with your firmware update, review the recommendations related to the following topics:

Updating Firmware | Resetting | Rebooting

Updating Firmware

I cannot upload the new firmware update.

  • If you are unable to upload a new firmware update, your license may be expired or at the version limit (to verify your license settings, see Managing Licenses). If so, you will need to obtain and install a new license before proceeding with the update.

Caution

Do not delete existing licenses before uploading the new license unless instructed to do so by Haivision. If you did, contact Haivision Support for assistance.

  • If updating from the web interface is still not working, try updating from the CLI using the package command.

I’ve uploaded the firmware update but can’t access the new features.

  • You may not have completed the update process. To successfully update the firmware, must also reboot the system.

  • Once you’ve clicked Reboot, remain on the loading page and do not click anything else in the Makito FX web interface. Do not proceed, or shut down the system, while the Status LED is still flashing. Failure to wait could result in damage to your system.

I’m encountering a timeout error after rebooting for a firmware update.

  • If you are encountering a Timeout Error, it may be due to a proxy or gateway. If your Makito is operating behind a proxy or gateway with a default 30 second timeout, you will either receive an error or be prompted to upload the package again. If this occurs:

    • Wait approximately two minutes and refresh the web page. Upon refreshing, you should see that the package you uploaded is pending installation.

    • Click Reboot to proceed with the update.

Resetting

I’m not sure what kind of reset to perform.

  • Your Makito FX has two reset options.

    • Do a System Reset first, especially if your encoder is only experiencing minor issues.

    • Do a Factory Reset if issues persist after a System Reset, or if you are experiencing major issues that inhibit performance.

Caution

Factory Resets restore the default accounts and passwords. Any changes to the default passwords, created accounts, and deleted default accounts will be lost after a Factory Reset or a firmware downgrade.

Rebooting

Unable to access Makito after reboot.

  • If you cannot access your Makito after a reboot, you may have made changes to the network settings, such as disabling your IPv4 connection. When changing network settings, be sure to write down relevant information, such as your new IP/IPv6 address in order to reconnect after a reboot. If you have not saved your information, contact your Network Administrator.
