Physical Installation
If you are having physical installation issues, review the tips and recommendations related to the following topics.
Power
Any power supply shipped with the unit is to be used only with that product. Haivision supplied power supplies are not for general use.
Always use the AC power cord and power supply provided with the unit.
Ensure that the AC socket outlet is located near the equipment and is easily accessible.
When using the AC/DC power adapter, the power cord is the main disconnect device.
Be sure to connect the power supply to the unit first, before connecting to the AC source. This helps prevent damage to both the Makito FX and the power supply.
There is no power switch on the Makito FX appliance. The power is automatically on when the unit is plugged in. When using the AC/DC power adapter, the power supply cord is used as the main disconnect device.
Connecting A/V Interfaces
If you are encountering A/V synchronization issues, be sure to use an HD video-capable RG-6 coaxial cable (such as the Belden 1694A) up to 300 feet. Otherwise, the video signal may be too attenuated.
The Makito FX Encoder can ingest 4K signals from either the HDMI input or the SDI input, but not both at the same time.
If you are using the HDMI input, ensure that you are not inputting HDCP content.
Connecting to the Network
Both network ports can be connected at the same time. Connection over two distinct subnets allows you to partition streaming and management services.
Unit Placement
Although the chassis is semi-ruggedized, you should still keep the unit in a cool, well-ventilated environment to ensure optimized performance.
To mount the MFX on a standard 22.86cm (19") rack, use either a single left bracket or single right bracket. The unit is lightweight and does not require brackets on both sides.
