Configuring Decoder Outputs

From the Decoder configuration panels, you can manage video decoding for the four SDI output ports. This includes binding the video output(s) to the stream(s) you have created and configuring properties such as the Output Frame Rate and Still Image. Each decoder can be configured independently of the others.

To configure decoder outputs:

  1. Click Streaming on the sidebar, and select the Decoders tab.
  2. Click the Settings icon
on the decoder panel to configure the decoder settings.

  3. Select a stream to assign to the decoder from the Stream dropdown.
  4. Select the Output port(s) for the decoder (if not using the default selection) by clicking 1, 2, 3, or 4 under SDI Outputs.
You can route the decoded video and audio to any set of physical outputs. This allows you to specify the interface(s) on which you want to see the video

    Important

Decoder 0 has highest priority, and and the video decoding resources are prioritized with the lower decoder numbers (i.e., 0, then 1, 2, and 3) having higher priority. For more information, see Oversubscription of Decoder Channels.

    Tip

To configure 2SI UHD output mode, select all four SDI outputs, then select 2SI Mode from the Quad Mode drop-down (this field is only available when all four SDIs are selected).

  5. Adjust the remaining settings in the Input, Output, and Metadata sections. For example, you can change the Input Mode, Output Frame Rate, Still Image, and Still Image Delay.
Some of the Decoder settings are read-only.  For details, see Decoder Settings.

    Tip

If the decoder is no longer receiving video (e.g. if the encoder stream has stopped or the network connection is lost) it will display a Still Image. You can select a default image from the Still Image dropdown.

To select a custom image, click Select Image... and select the custom image from the custom image panel

For more information on configuring Still Images, see Configuring Still Image Streaming

  6. To apply your changes, click Apply.
  7. To start or stop the decoder, click the Start/Stop icon

    /
    on the decoder panel.

  8. To select one or more decoder, check the checkboxes on the decoder panel(s).

    Once selected, you can:
    1. Start or Stop the decoder(s) (as applicable).
    2. Click Reset Stats to reset the statistics on all selected decoders.
    3. Click Set Buffering to set the Buffering Mode and Delay for all selected decoders.
    4. To apply your changes, click Apply.

  9. To view statistics for the decoder, click the Statistics icon

    on the decoder panel.

From here you can click Reset to reset the decoder statistics, or click Detailed Statistics to open the detailed statistics page. For more information, see Decoder Statistics and Detailed Decoder Statistics
