Hub 360 Downtime Contingency Plan
While Hub 360 is hosted on a highly reliable cloud infrastructure with automated failover and redundancy, unexpected downtime may still occur in rare circumstances (e.g. provider outages, regional network disruptions, or critical maintenance). To ensure continued operation and management of your connected appliances during these periods, please follow the fallback procedures outlined below:
Recommended Preparation
Perform the following prior to any Hub 360 outage:
- Record all IP addresses/hostnames of your connected appliances and their relevant credentials, so that you may access them during any potential Hub 360 downtime.
- For any connected transmitters (Air, Pro, Rack devices), create destination profiles for your StreamHubs. If there is a Hub 360 outage, you can manage your transmitters via your StreamHubs after changing the destination profile. When Hub 360 is available again, change the destination profile back to Hub 360.
Device Behavior During Downtime
If there is a Hub 360 outage, the following occurs:
- Remote monitoring, control, or configuration changes via Hub 360 will be temporarily unavailable.
- Connected devices and the streams between them will continue to operate as previously configured by Hub 360, as long as the network connection between the devices is still available.
Recommended User Actions
During the Hub 360 downtime:
- If configuration changes are necessary to your appliances, access them directly using the recorded addresses and credentials.
- If changes to your streams are necessary for your connected transmitters, switch to the StreamHub destination profile that you previously created. You can then use StreamHub to control their streams.
After service to Hub 360 is restored:
- Connection to your appliances resumes and if there were any configuration changes, they are reflected in Hub 360.
- If you changed the destination profile on your connected transmitters, switch it back to Hub 360, which allows your streams to be managed by Hub 360. In this case, will the user have to recreate the streams in Hub 360?
